What is Reach to Teach

The Reach To Teach programme reaches the unreached by providing education to children aged 4 to 14 in remote rural areas of India, with an initial focus in Gujarat.  We place equal emphasis on the education of girls and boys.

Educational content spans formally recognised ‘Standards' 1 to 5 in addition to ‘life' skills.  These include health education (for example basic nutrition and hygiene), environmental awareness, agricultural techniques and social skills.

Reach to Teach has pioneered the use of new and innovative techniques in engaging children and families in remote rural areas, including the use of specially equipped mobile schools. It has been operating since 2005.

Reach to Teach is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission and has adopted the highest standards on governance from the charity world supplemented where appropriate from the corporate world as well. We continue to take advice from the leading experts in this field who will review and update our procedures.
